Why should the women of India be respected??

Why do the women of INDIA needs to be respected?

When  our PM Narendra modi appealed for a

campaign of #selfiewithdaughter , it was noticed that there

were several oppositions from influential people stating that

"When women are illiterate, abused and discriminated how

can we celebrate them? " . Yes , ofcourse it is true . But , it is

the mistake of the society which had failed to give equal

rights to women, educate them and empower them !

Our state has failed its responsibility to keep them

safeguarded and make them par with men. But it doesnt

mean that our women have failed. ofcourse, which is why

the women of India need to be celebrated.

                                                                                It is the famous

policy of INDIA that , When a son is born in the family you

need not worry about the retirement fund . But when a

daughter is born , you'll have to worry about the dowry

fund" . Such is the status of a Family of India no matter they

are educated or not. India is a country filled with poverty ,

unemployment, casteism , corruption , religions, basic

facilities , schools , shelter, and social disparities. But this is

the same country where plenty of billionaires and

millionaires evlove. This is the nation where so many great

personalities evloved.  Usha Mehta Savitribhai Phule ,

Durga Bai Deshmukh , Aruna Asif Ali , Sucheta Kripalani ,

Vijaylakshmi Pandit were all great freedom fighters who

were silent in their actions but brought a fruitful gift called

FREEDOM which we continue to enjoy till today. The World

remembers Gandhi and Nehru , but hardly a very few

knows these silent souls who sacrificed their lives for the

nation's freedom.

In India , it is very unfortunate that

women are always seen as a object of  pity , worth only of

compassion , a robot to do all the household works without

any complaining . Men consider them useful only when they

become their object of satisfaction. The children of India

study only the economic status of nation , the world wars

and the civilizations that evloved a long back ago . Children

of today , have to be teached moral values , character and

attitude , self-development and finally respect to women ,

both inside and outside the home so that the youngsters of

the next generations stop teasing and mocking women.

From the moment a women gets conceived , she has to face

problems from the male chauvinistic society. In her home ,

with her brother for equality. Outside, in the society she has

to fight with the stupid eve-teasers. A society, where in A

man, inspite of being a father , inspite of being a brother ,

inspite of being a friend , teasing a girl when she passes by,

mocking a woman when she drives a vehicle , comments on

way she dresses up, is said to LACK MORAL VALUES ,

which is the exact situation at India right now.

Is that what the life of an Indian woman is all

about? Who has made her illiterate? Who takes dowry?

Who kills her for honour? Who is behind molestation, eve-

teasing or rape? Why is it that all the evils of society are

associated with the victim? It’s a design. The biggest trick

the rich play on the poor is that they never let us see the

poor without their poverty. If one inverts the pyramid and

looks at it from a woman’s point of view, men will come

across as abductors, exploiters, molesters and rapists. But

the pyramid can’t be inverted because the narrative is in in

the hands of people who want to see a woman as an "abla

nari" (hapless victim). The Indian woman is "abla" because

the narrative has always been with men.

In a society where a woman’s greatness is

measured by her chastity, where her patience is measured

by her capacity to tolerate great injustice, one can still find

many Sitas who happily sacrifice all comforts in lieu of

their duty and devotion for their family. This Sita is

constantly fighting Ravanas with her sacrifice and

penance, yet she doesn’t compromise on her dignity and

righteousness, she instills values in her children and

protects her family’s honour. There are Draupadis all

around us with storms of anguish and anger. In every

house there are Mandodaris, trying to create a balance

between the injustice of society and the stability of her

family with her wisdom. Whenever her family faces

turbulence, she is the one who chooses the right path. We

meet Ahalyas in colleges, at home, at work who are

subjected to unforgivable wrongs, yet they forgive and

spread their compassion.

Despite restrictions, regressive mindsets and hurdles,
women today are flying into space, treating patients,
building bridges, winning beauty pageants, excelling in
sports, making laws and leading the corporate world.
Alongside, she plays the role of a house maker like a
champion.
A woman who can survive and thrive despite a constant
struggle to assert her space in a misogynistic society,
cannot be a Sati, but is predominantly and fundamentally
a Shakti.
I think it’s time to change the negative narrative and
celebrate Shakti.
Which is why i feel the necessity that Indian women be
respected in her soil !

HAIL MOTHER INDIA !!
